Aristotle via NYU

There is still too much going on. So I decided for days, weeks, months just to “shut up”.
Say bye bye.

Even though I am not supposed to. Taking down low.
Feeling bad, but I like it.

Often it´s better to just keep quiet and keep moving.
Of Aristotle this amusing anecdote is related by Plutarch (On Loquacity):

A prosy person detaining him with an endless account of some perfectly immaterial affair and continually repeating “is it not surprising, Aristotle?” the latter at length replied
“I don´t find that surprising, but this I find surprising – that any one possessed of a pair of feet should continue to endure you”.

Use your feet. Keep going.

may recap,justice

June 9th, 2011 1 comment

OMG. May was full of surprises.
Big news. Personally I had way too much work, was late with filing my tax report, new stuff just around anywhere. Sick children.

I´ve installed “Blogsy” on my Ipad and hopefully it´s just a few days until I´ll fully manage to use it. And I´ve discovered “Scrivener” – what a discovery. It´s the only reason I am returning to my MacBook.

MLADIC was caught. Finally, finally, finally. A few had a change of heart, mind or interest. Different options.
And Croatia and Serbia are being reevaluated for a prestigious EU membership.
They should decline the invitation, seriously. Especially. All war criminals should be prosecuted, but not for a EU membership.

Something new

May 2nd, 2011 No comments

Osama was caught, killed and buried.
Quick and effective. The possibility of him becoming a shrine was buried at sea.

There was a royal wedding, a beatification of Pope John Paul II and a greeting card from the U.S..”To @all with best wishes”

This is so foxy, too sad it´s a fact that Obama isn´t on exactly good terms with Murdoch´s network.
Reports like this piece from the DailyMail.UK turn the whole Bin Laden Operation into a for a “24h” outline.

A Wedding, a beatification, a bewildered citizen tweeting, and on it goes….

This is it: “How the attack on Osama bin Laden was live-tweeted”
/via FastCompany.com

(by the way, I am still not convinced that George W. Bush isn´t a conceptualist artist — judging from that Facebook picture)

In the meantime Fox and it´s affiliates still are on Auto-Pilot.

Trump l´oeil

April 24th, 2011 No comments

A nation with Mr. Donald J. Trump as presidential candidate is not freedoomed but clever bordering on delusional.

Republican voters are likely to vote for him (read: a f t e r Mitt Romney— trojan horse)

Tanned, rested and ready….
Apart from having his own trompe l´oeil on his head, Trump actually means business. And he would definitely make sure that his country is welcomed back – with open arms, anywhere.Unarmed.
It´s the brand. It makes everything simpler.

he can shower all prospective partners with a unique giftbag (no expenses spared!)
Forget about diplomacy– just a candid look into the gift bag is a hint: choccolate? hmm – for starters, jewellery – something for the ladies, a shirt, a tie–?

Remember when Clinton turned the White House into a hotel?
Think Trump could follow up? With his portfolio?
They´d be lining up!
With a spread like this – either you´re high as a kite or simply simple. Gold, golden, goldish..

Berlusconi has succeded in Italy, why not Trump in the USA?
He´d be the very first president with a Playboy cover!

here´s the actual interview/via flixster

BUT – Trump is just being used. He makes noise. With all that nonsense about missing birth certificates, leadership and so on.
He makes room for OPP. What else? He´s just oiling the machinery.

When your life´s perspective is stuck in a music video

April 11th, 2011 No comments

Dear Reader,

I used to keep a journal/diary for quite a long time. I still do, but now I do not call it diary. Instead I take notes. That´s the mature version.
Trading places.
But while I kept a diary, each entry was directed to a “mistery reader”. Vane little me. Equipped with an unhealthy appetite for destruction I soon tore each diary apart. Of course I waited. A month, a year, half a year, a week. Because I am after all known for my patient manner. Once the pages were full – handwriting, ideas, thoughts, silly, dark, human, funny, frighting or just original, I destroyed each diary. Another vane act. With my hands, with scissors, or with a lighter. From proof of existence to snippets and ashes.
Because I am secretive. The stars say. I have to prove. So I stopped writing. I stopped taking notes. I silenced myself.
There´s a catch in there.

In no related matter:
The first movie I went to was ” A Chorus Line” (apart from a foggy memory of Stars Wars, but that never sunk in).
To me all the characters were real, I could feel their desire and determination.
Today, in the age 2.0 or whatever.
– apart from what happened to RnB?- What´s it all about?
If you´re determined – there´s no stopping you. (Well, you need power)
Today you can learn anything – from handling a LOMO camera to the “proper”(?) way of grinding it. Or applying make-up. Holy shit.

But with respect -there´s a world between this:

Protecting interests? – oh, what an insult

April 7th, 2011 No comments

Nearly a year ago former German president Horst Köhler resigned following a harsh and atrocious press campaign initiated by many politicians after he made some comments during a radio interview. returning from a visit to Afghanistan Köhler said during the interview that the german public was finally coming to terms with the concept that their country could no longer avoid involvement in military missions which “help protect our interests, for example free trade routes, or to prevent regional instability which might certainly have a negative effect on our trade, jobs and income”

Images of dust

April 5th, 2011 No comments

One day I´ll post something with Ipad´s auto correct.
That´ll be a funny post.

you´ll find more of these here

My favourite little work with words, rediscovered while dusting my shelves. It´s prizeless. The writer as a prizewinner.

My Prizes: An Accounting
by Thomas Bernhard and Carol Janeway

And did you know that a true tea-master is also an artist in cleaning and dusting?
Thanks to google books, instantly I´ve found it.

Skills to die for, in no apparent order

Truly gifted vocalists leave me in awe. I wish I could sing and move someones´s soul with my voice. Or surprise with my performance.
Like Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson, Maria Callas,… or just like that Young Boy who covered a song by Lady G.

I wish I had their gift and audacity. Just imagine- Susanne Doyle, laughed at, ridiculed – she had the last laugh.
Or Whitney Houston with “I will always love you” (without the Saxophon playing).

Just having their voice – it´s only logical that I would turn into a diva. With such a powerful voice, a trained and skilled voice, my mind had every right to be on edge. I could have a big hair day, crazy hat day, or a “giving Interviews not in a sitting but lying position (thanks Mariah). And if that was too grand – the next day I am a bag lady.
No matter what people say, once you start singing, all the stupidity is silenced. That´s truly divine.
But it´s also a the result of hard work.

The only common trait I share with them is a tendency for wild gestures.

1) any given monday I wish I could welcome the day in such a manner YouTube Preview Image

but maybe resemble more him, which is totally unimportant. Because who cares?

2) and If I was very snotty and smart, I definitely would do this:

3) If I had the desire to bring it on, I´d choose this way

Note: I think Whitney Houston has been treated unfairly.
With all that buzz about Charlie Sheen? Whitney has done it all. (remember the interview? “Whitney´s never gonna be fat?”, “Crack is whack?”)

As they say – she was ahead of her time.
SHE should sell her own t-shirts.

Singing is not an option for me, sadly. So is neither this:

Strange encounters

March 23rd, 2011 No comments

Once on my way to the train station the following happened:

It was early august, mid afternoon. Suffocating heat, no humidity.
A guy walked in front of me. He was tall, dark, impressive.
The distance between us was about 5 meters. In his left hand he had a large Coca-Cola bottle.
While I trodded behind him, all I could think of was how delicious a glass of Cola would be. I was hypnotized by that Coca Cola bottle swinging in his hand.
And then – all of a sudden that guy stopped, turned around and asked me: ” You want to drink this?” I stood there, perplexed.
He never waited for my answer instead just handed me the bottle, turned around and moved on.

Truth, no fiction
